File preparation & plate making
Prepress is where the production
process begins.
“Technology makes it possible for
people to gain control over everything, except over technology.”
- John Tudor
Rapid
growth in Saxon saw a need for more control, and in September
2001 promptly installed an in-house Prepress department.
We've come along way in a short time, now boasting some of the
most advanced technology in the industry, and continuing to
acquire more as it comes to hand.
Files can be received in numerous forms, from a floppy disk,
Zip, CD or our FTP site. They are processed using all the latest
software on a suite of Macintosh workstations.
Trapping is applied and taken through to imposition. Imposed
proofs are then output on an HP5000 (large format digital printer)
that has been fingerprinted to our presses.
When approved, plates are recorded on the Topstetter 102PF -
one of the most advanced computer-to-plate systems available;
able to record 22 x A1 plates per hour.
Ink profiles are downloaded to the press using CIP3
technology ensuring colour consistency, quality and accuracy.
